Excellent Hearing Aid. Easy to adjust, works fine

Posted by Hepotter Hot Springs Village, AR on 21st Nov 2013

I am extremely pleased with the Simply Slim Soft Touch hearing aid. I've used one now for about six months.

It works! It doesn't just amplify all sound, it filters out unwanted noise, amplifies speech extremely well, and is invisible for all practical purposes, and I'm as bald as a rock. If you have hair, no one will ever know.

I chose the "Smart Touch" push button model over the "Classic", because the tiny wheel to adjust volume was too small for my thick fingers. With the push button adjustment, I only have to touch the volume button, and I can select one of four pre-tuned volume levels. It performs with excellence. I only need the first level of sound...I've got three more if needed.

There are two sizes, Standard, or Slim for smaller ear canals. I use the Slim. It fits in further, and is more comfortable.

It's really nice to be able to watch TV and not annoy others by having the volume up too loud for others. Further, I only have one for my left ear. That works quite well for me for now. Eventually I will get the other one. If you are on a tight budget, just one aid offers tremendous improvement in hearing, and get you by quite nicely

Remember to open the battery compartment, at nights, or if it is not in use. That is easy to do. That extends battery life substantially. I wear mine anytime I am around people, or watching television. A battery lasts me about one week. Your results will vary depending on how much you wear it.

Also remember to use the small removal stem that protrudes at the bottom of the aid, and not grab another part of the aid to remove it. If you accidentally pull too hard on the battery door, you can possibly damage the unit. It is very durable though, if given reasonable care.

I clean my ears out on a reasonable basis, this keeps ear wax out of the end of the unit, which has a filter to trap any wax or oil from getting into the device. It has an easily changeable filter replacement device. If the filter kit is not included with your aid, it is worth buying.

The tiny battery is easily changed. Pull the door open, remove the old battery, and the new battery will drop in easily. The battery has a paper flap on the back, the bare side goes in the holder. This makes it easy to ensure it is installed easily and correctly. After it drops into the holder, just push it down gently, pull of the little paper flap, close the door. So very easy! That little paper flap makes handling the tiny battery very easy. I have bad sight, and clumsy fingers, so normal people will find it even easier than I did.

I left mine on once, when I took a shower. I forgot I had it in. I simply took it out, toweled it off and no problems at all. You can't swim with it either, but if you accidentally get it wet, take it out, dry it off, and all should be fine. It fits well inside your ear, so rain is of no consequence. The one opening on the part facing out is so small, it is extremely difficult for any water to enter.

Ready Wear was great in returning the first one, because it was too big for my ear canal. They didn't flinch when I found I had difficulty adjusting the volume wheel on the second one and refunded my money so I could order the push button model. You can't beat that quality of service, and I believe they understand you may need to go to the smaller size if you have a narrow ear canal.

Now I have a comfortable fit, push button adjustable aid, that is good as the $1800 one the local hearing aid dealer wanted to sell me. I could order three of the Walmart Simply Slim Smart Touch hearing aids for less than the price of one of the other people's devices. The price was so good, I was tempted to buy three, but then I remembered...I don't have three ears!!! Although I'm extremely good looking, my wife says I'm not all that bright! Well, she got what she paid for!

Simply Slim Smart Touch Hearing Aid could be good.

Posted by IdanoU MN on 21st Nov 2013

I was really excited to try the Simply Slim Smart Touch hearing aid since the price was way lower than my other hearing aids. These could be good if they changed 1 thing. They need a button to turn the instrument on/off. When you shut the battery door it's automatically on. Since it takes a while to get it inserted into your ear because it's "one size fits all" there is an extremely loud squealing noise the whole time you are touching it to get it into your ear. From someone who can't hear voices at all without hearing aids this loud squeal is not acceptable or tolerable for me. It must be extremely loud to others. The one time I got it in quickly I was able to hear quite well with it but I returned it since I can't handle the squeal whenever you touch the thing. I called customer service but none have on/off switches. If they added one they would have a very good product!

This Digital left ear Simply Smart Touch Hearing Aid is just as good if not better compared to the $1000.00 dollar ones, if you feel you need a person to talk to, and make believe that they are making adjustsments o.k. then spend it on the expensive ones , But in my opinion this hearing aid is just fantastic , Thank you for being able to purchase a great made in the USA PRODUCT at a good price

Great option from the expensive hearing aids

Posted by an anonymous customer Mechanicsburg, PA on 21st Nov 2013

I have moderate hearing loss in one ear. I had two hearing test done after which my hearing aid options were discussed. The least expensive hearing aid (which had some digital programming capability) cost $1,800 for one.
This product provides the increased hearing needs at a very affordable price. It is comfortable even as a one size fits all product.
I use the first level of the four levels available and my hearing is very good.
My family appreciates the betterment and it has helped me in the office environment as well.
This has been the best $400 I have spent in quite some time.

    Good for beginners

Posted by swift313 Central USA on 21st Nov 2013

I've worn hearing aids for a number of years. I ordered these to replace set that had gone bad. I was thrilled by the cost. They work well and are comfortable. The only problem that I've had is the top part - battery holder, volume button, etc.., came loose from the softer body after about 3 months. I had to be very careful opening/closing the battery compartment

Great - once you get past the "squealing" noise.

    Hearing Aid

Posted by olcritter74136 Tulsa, OK on 21st Nov 2013

Got this single device with the hope it would suffice, before trying two new full fledged expensive new hearing aids like those I started with 6 years ago. It (left ear only) completely meets my needs. I really like the entire one piece being completely inside my ear because I wear eyeglasses and did not like fumbling with the hearing aid extensions behind my ears when I removed my glasses and then put them on again. I have no problem with restaurant noise or even loud music near my church stage...I had these problems with my former hearing aids. I've always used my left ear for phone coversations, this device gives me no problem. I only use Level 1. Occasionally, I will experience some slight discomfort or soreness which I can attribute to my left ear canal being made smaller by long ago surgey. This minor problem is overcome by simply removing the device for a few hours.

    Good Hearing Aids

The device seems to be working, but they are difficult to get adjusted to the most accurate setting/volume.

good hearing aids - wouldn't stay in

Posted by Syracuse NY on 12th Nov 2013

These were purchased for my husband since his previous hearing aids that were purchased from an hearing aid store were broken while he was in the hospital. The quality of the hearing aids were fine - they just wouldn't stay in his ear. A call to the help line and a pair that are standard size rather than thin will be mailed tomorrow. All I have to do is return the others - a label will be enclosed with the new order. We will ultimately be purchasing a better pair from the previous dealer but in the meantime these seem more than adequate. Couldn't be happier with the service
