The Simplicity Hi-Fi hearing systems are not just for musicians! They’re for anyone serious about sound quality. Whether you love listening to music or actually performing, high fidelity listening is what you’ve been waiting for. Designed by professional musicians for musicians, the Simplicity Hi-Fi 270 by General Hearing delivers the full range and richness of sounds while never allowing sounds to become too loud or uncomfortable. All of this advanced sound processing is offered in a very discreet, over-the-ear package.

Simplicity Hi-Fi devices provide optimum sound quality in everyday listening situations by eliminating typical sound limiting filters. Hear or play music without input-signal clipping. The result? Instead of an overwhelming sense of loudness or amplification, daily sounds (or new sounds) will come through with a clarity you probably haven’t heard for a long time. With a smooth, undistorted output and a frequency range of 100Hz to 10 KHz., the Hi-Fi delivers the high frequency consonant sounds along with all of the harmonics that give music its characteristic color.

  • Simplicity Hi-Fi 270 OTE is equipped with a special sensor that detects and amplifies only quiet sounds; and is acoustically transparent for loud sounds.
  • Wide Range Dynamic Compression circuitry utilizes a variable-time-constant automatic gain control circuit. This virtually eliminates the audible breathy sound while providing nearly instant recovery after short, intense transients.
  • An automatic processor manages two electronic controls to make quiet sounds audible and give selective treble boost.
  • The user adjustable volume control allows the Simplicity Hi-Fi 270 OTE to be set to your specific comfortable listening level in any situation.
  • Simplicity Hi-Fi 270 instruments features a built-in LOWBAT warning signal that gives a low motor boating sound which becomes louder and faster as the battery dies (250 hours plus).
  • The Simplicity Hi-Fi 270 OTE is housed in a micro OTE case that is virtually invisible to others and is less prone to failure due to earwax.
  • Transparent ear canal resonance with open-fit format is virtually occlusion free (i.e. head not in a barrel).
  • Designed and approved by leading audiologists and sound engineers.
  • Uses Size 10A Battery
  • The Simplicity Hi-Fi 270 is tested in accordance with American National Standards Institute, ANSI S3.22-1996 hearing aid standard, adopted by ISO.
  • 90 days full return privilege with no hassle money back guarantee.
  • Each device comes with a full 1 year warranty that starts at the date the instrument is originally shipped from the factory.

    So surprised at the difference

I've been using Readywear Hearing aids for two years now and have found them very helpful. I recently upgraded to the HiFi units and am extremely pleased with them. Not only are they very comfortable to wear (I have to keep checking to make sure I've removed them before going in a swimming pool etc - totally forget I have them on). The quality of amplification is greatly enhanced by the fact that not all sounds are amplified the same and many natural sounds enter the ear as before. They are not only comfortable to wear but they are comfortable for hearing in special situations. A noisy restaurant is not so confusing any more as much of the background noise seems to be filtered out and I can concentrate much easier on those at our table. I have returned to playing the piano and organ with a renewed sense of interest as the instruments sound more natural than before. I am so glad that I made the small extra investment to move to the HiFi hearing aids - what a blessing!

    Not for serious musicians

I get feedback whistles before I get usable volume. Using a double dome earpiece helps this, though there is some occlusion.
It distorts when I play in a band.

    A very practical solution

As a professional musician, I have been exposed to louder than average sound levels for 45 years. As a result I have recently been diagnosed with noise induced hearing loss. After several professional consultations and extensive testing, I was advised to invest $4000.+ in hearing aids to embellish the frequencies that have diminished over the years. After hours of online surfing I discovered General Hearing Instruments(GHI) has designed a system that seemed tailor made for my situation. I took the gamble(less than $1000.) and I am absolutely thrilled with the instant improvement in my ability to hear everyday sounds and music as I did years ago. Thank you GHI

These hearing aids add uncolored top end without artifacts making them ideal for musicians with mild to moderate hearing loss. They are also able to withstand high SPL levels (105db) so you can actually use them on gigs without distortion, unlike the other 2 major brands that I tried before finding these. Feature wise they only have one preset curve and a volume control so they are limited in that respect. I returned mine and got the "Simplicity" model because they work better for my hearing loss where speech is concerned but I'm so happy with the Simplicity model that I'm considering reordering the Hi Fi's. See my review for the Simplicity model.

So far, so good. Best yet actually

I think I have tried out almost all of the online purchase, preset hearing devices on the market at this stage of the game, and these Simplicity Hi Fi 270 are the best that I have come across so far. For my ears anyway!
I started out 2 years ago with the $600 a pair, MD hearing aids, and then returned them before the end of their 45 day trial period, as I found the Able Planet company, in ear hearing aids, (shipped to my door for $954) to be better. I was trucking along with the afore mentioned Able Planet hearing aids for 8 months and impressed with the sound quality. They work by tapping your ears twice to change the settings from 1 thru 4. The problem with this, I found was that when closing my car door from inside the car, or driving with the window open, they would change settings by themselves. Also when in a loud music enviornment like a bar, the base or drums would also change the settings on them.
I got these Hi Fi 270's shipped out to me just 2 weeks ago, and I've been wearing them ever since in place of the Able Planet ones, which now sit in a drawer at home as spares, as it is now too late to get a refund for them.
Just before I ordered these Hi Fi 270's, I went to Costco's and did a free in store trial of their, much more expensive stuff (over $2000 a pair), which they program for you in the store, but found them not even as good as the Able Planet ones which I was then using.
To conclude my review, and I hope it is not getting too confusing, I feel that these Hi Fi 270's are as good as it's going to get for me, even if I were to go out there and give $6000 or more to an audioligist.
I like the volume controls turning knobs, which allow me to adjust the volumes independantly, and they can be turned up louder than any of my previous sets. The origional size 10 batteries are still going strong, even after 2 weeks!! which makes me feel that I was correct in not going for the bulkyier looking 270 EP's with the bigger size 13 batteries.
As well as appreciating music again with these units, I can still hear people speaking more clearly, than with all the others I have used.
Thank you GHI (General Hearing Instruments) respectively, for the best product and a great service.

I can't tell you how delighted I am with the device!

The GHI hearing aid was supposed to be my back up instrument since I was concerned that if my Widex 440 Mind instrument was lost or damaged I would just have to tough it out. As it turns out I like the Simplicity HIFI 270 much more, and the Widex has been relegated to 2nd place.
